On Thursday, January 12, the Vancouver Chapter of CSC is presenting a talk by a Read Jones Christoffersen project engineer, entitled “How to Build a Glass House.”
Leonard Pianalto, M.Sc. (Civil), P.Eng, FEC, LEED AP, will focus will be on the use of glass as a structural material rather than a finishing or building enclosure element—his talk includes explorations of glass floors, beams, bearing walls, point supports, shear walls, and roofs.
The event takes place at the Sandman Hotel (180 West Georgia St.) ballroom, located straight through the back of the Moxie’s restaurant. It kicks off at 11:30 a.m. with a full-course, self-serve buffet; the speaker is expected to finish by 1:30 p.m.
Pre-registration ends on Wednesday, January 11 ($38 plus GST for CSC members and $48 for others), but space may still be permitting—contact the Vancouver Chapter’s officer, Vince Smith, for details.
