In the heart of Montreal, a bold architectural transformation breathes new life into the city’s central district, as the “Sir Georges” project by Maurice Martel reimagines urban living.

This project reinvents a standard triplex into a single-family residence, designed to demonstrate the city’s dedication to both innovation and the preservation of its rich architectural heritage.

The 130 m2 (1,400 sf) residence has a prominent centrepiece: a sculptural staircase that is both functional and esthetic, symbolizing the site’s evolution across different eras. The rear facade juxtaposes contemporary elements with tradition through the use of composite wood slats and white acrylic. Large windows allow an abundance of natural light into the interiors, connecting the living spaces with the outdoors. The interior incorporates natural wood elements. The kitchen serves as the heart of the home, while bedrooms offer tranquil retreats. Functional gathering spaces such as the living room and anterooms enhance the residence’s livability.

The project aims to be a statement to Montreal’s rich history and promising future, offering an enriching residential experience where every detail is carefully crafted.
